How to get there?
From San Jose, take the South Pan-American Highway on the route #2 until you get to San Isidro del General. It is about 134 km away from San Jose and you pass through the Cerro de la Muerte on your way.

The city of San Isidro del General is one of the most populated in Costa Rica. Its great commercial expansion has allowed the development of different facilities. There are many tourist destinations in its surroundings that are definitely worth visiting.

This zone is surrounded by mountains and protected areas, displaying
amazing panoramic views and charming waterfalls.

The Nauyaca Waterfalls are located in a canyon that is 80 m wide, and are formed by 5 different waterfalls with altitudes that range from 20 to 70 m.

At the base of the second waterfall theres a pond with a depth of 6 m where you can jump and swim, taking all the required precautions.

They are surrounded by dense vegetation and have a set of natural pools of crystal-clear water, where you can have fun and relax with your family. You wont stop taking pictures to these impressive and beautiful sceneries.

In order to access the waterfalls you must take a long walk or go horseback riding. You can go over the trails with or without a guide.

You can also enjoy an incredible adventure ride in the rapids of the Rio San Isidro del General. These rapids are class III and IV and attract a large number of local and international tourists.

Due to its extension and strong flow, this river offers a unique and exciting experience to whoever dares to practice rafting down its waters.

Another interesting place is the Las Quebradas Biological Center, which was created with the purpose of protecting the flora and fauna and the drinking water sources that supply the city of San Isidro, as well as other nearby villages. It shelters species of orchids, ferns and the beautiful quetzal.

On your way to San Isidro del General you will go through other national parks and reserves. The hills of the Chirripo National Park can be seen from the road.

The Alexander Skutch Biological Corridor connects the Las Nubes Biological Reserve and the Los Cusingos Alexander Skutch Bird Refuge with the La Amistad International Park. It intends to protect and help the wild flora and fauna of the zone.

In the city of San Isidro del General you will find the Symphonic Music School of Perez Zeledon. It was created as part of a project of the Universidad Nacional in 1994.

Its objective is to give everyone the opportunity to learn and develop its talent systematically and professionally. The students (about 200) organize concerts, raffles and other activities for fundraising.

Every year the Expo Perez Zeledon is celebrated for one week; a fair where you will find cattle, industrial, handcraft, commercial and orchid exhibits. You can also enjoy live music, bullfights and traditional games.

You can relax in the different spas this city offers, where you can get massages and therapies of all kinds. Theres also a hospital that belongs to the Costa Rican Social Security, some state universities and branch offices of some banks.

This city is home to one of the first division soccer teams of the country: the Municipal Sports Association of Perez Zeledon, also known as The Warriors of the South.

The city of San Isidro del General serves as gateway to other natural attractions of Costa Rica, like Playa Dominical and the Ballena National Marine Park.

Accommodations and gastronomy
There are several options of places to stay that are close to the tourist attractions. They offer many facilities and services, from hot water to wireless Internet connection.

Some hotels have conference rooms, ideal for business meetings. You can have fun and play with your friends in a soccer field or in the swimming pool. There are also gyms and projection rooms in these all-inclusive hotels.

You can find some fast food chain restaurants in San Isidro del General. There are many small places that serve fried snacks, like hamburgers.
Most of the restaurants of the area offer typical Costa Rican dishes, as well as organic coffee.
