How to get there?
From San Jose, take the North Pan-American Highway (route #1) in direction to Liberia and from there go to the Daniel Oduber International Airport until you get to the intersection of the route #21, and keep driving south finally reaching the town of Sardinal. Turn right heading northwest towards Playas del Coco, and then turn right once more in direction to Playa Panama.

Just as its name implies, Hermosa (Beautiful) is a beach of extraordinary beauty that attracts many national and international tourists. It also offers a wide variety of services that satisfy every visitor’s need.

Hermosa is located in the province of Guanacaste, in the North Pacific of Costa Rica.

It is a U-shaped bay that extends for 2 km and is surrounded by a dry tropical forest that is home to howler monkeys and iguanas, which makes this place a fascinating destination for foreign tourists.

This beach is light gray-beige colored and has a blue-turquoise sea on one side and shore vegetation on the other, which serves as cooling and resting point from the summer sun. You can practice sports like soccer, diving, fishing and bodyboarding.

In the north section of the beach there are strong waves that are perfect for surfing, especially during rainy season. You can also practice kitesurfing and windsurfing. However, in the rest of the beach there are little and soft waves, ideal for swimming.

Playa Hermosa is located between 2 hills and from the shore you can see the islands of Pelonas and Montosa, which display an amazing scenery. The best time to visit this charming beach is during dry season, where you can enjoy clear skies and impressive sunsets that dye the sky in orange colors.

This beach received the “Ecological Blue Flag”, which means that it meets some standards such as the quality of seawater, the access to fresh water, wastewater treatments, environmental education, security and administration.

It’s easy to get to this beach because it is very close to the Daniel Oduber Airport and the access road is in very good conditions.

Accommodations and gastronomy
In Playa Hermosa you can find many different options of places to stay.
There are luxurious hotels that have many services available for their guests, like spas and gyms. You can also find cheaper rooms and cabins that also have some facilities and services for their customers.
