29 from Octuber from 2012
In Tapanti visitors can enjoy a rich flora and fauna, representative of Costa Rica

By: Melissa Solis C.

With more than 150 rivers, thanks to the combination of its topography with a high rainfall index resulting in several waterfalls, the Tapanti National Park gives you the best vacations in the country.

Located in Orosi, province of Cartago, this protected area is crossed by the Grande de Orosi River, very important for power generation and drinking water supply.

The park is also part of the Biosphere Reserve and World Heritage of Humanity, a huge biological corridor ideal for the displacement of species along with other national parks and reserves, like La Amistad International Park.

In Tapanti visitors can enjoy a rich flora and fauna, representative of Costa Rica. You can find tree species like oak trees, 47 types of bromeliads, 77 different orchids and 220 kinds of ferns.

There are 45 mammal species, some of them endangered, like the tapir, paca, raccoon, coati and white-faced monkey. This place is also home to 260 bird species like quetzals, hawks, falcons, guans, goldfinches, hummingbirds and parakeets.

The park has several marked trails where you can enter the deep forests and enjoy the beautiful singing of nature.

In some sections of the trails youll be amazed by the incredible landscapes Tapanti offers.

One of the trails will lead you to the riverbank of the Grande de Orosi River, where you can bathe or just sit on the huge rocks and enjoy the sceneries.

Some of the services and facilities the park offers are: picnic areas, visitor center, information office, parking area, viewpoint, drinking water, swimming area, first aid, trails and more.
