Are you looking for the perfect destination for birdwatching and enjoying nature? Then you should come to Costa Rica, the ideal space for all bird lovers, who at the same time would like to relax in the mountains or beaches with a pura vida atmosphere.

Costa Rica has 880 resident and migrating bird species, 56 of them are cataloged as endemic. In 2011, around 29% of the tourists came for birdwatching.

According to a study made by the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT), from the visitors that came for recreational purposes, around 430.000 practiced birdwatching.

Spaces for birdwatching

There are several places for birdwatching in Costa Rica; some of the most popular are the zone of Los Santos in the Cerro de la Muerte, the Palo Verde National Park in Guanacaste, Monteverde in Puntarenas, Tortuguero in the Caribbean and Corcovado in the Osa Peninsula.

However, the Caribbean and coastal zones of the Central and North Pacific are great for observing migratory birds.

Costa Rica has developed a tourism industry, with a comfortable hotel infrastructure, transportation, high safety standards for entering the forests and birdwatching sites. Any tourist that visits the country can enjoy these services.
