The celebration of the National Parks Day in our country is held on August 24th every year, so you can visit Costa Rica and get to know the wonderful parks immersed in this territory.

The diversity of flora and fauna plus the great variety of environmental products and services they offer to Costa Rica, Central America and the rest of the world, as well as the historical and architectural value we can find in them, make these protected wildlife areas a true Costa Rican treasure known worldwide.

The main objective of the celebration is to project the need to preserve and use rationally part of the forests, wetlands and wildlife the country has.

The conservation efforts have been focused in the continental region, where national parks cover 12.33% of the countrys territory.

The institution that manages and protects these zones is the National System of Conservation Areas (SINAC), member of the Environment, Energy and Telecommunications Ministry (MINAET).

Some of the most popular parks of Costa Rica are: Poas Volcano National Park, with its impressive crater and lagoon; Manuel Antonio National Park, definitely one of the most exuberant places in the country, with spectacular white sand beaches surrounded by the tropical jungle; Arenal Volcano National Park, the most active volcano in the country; Tortuguero National Park, where thousands of green and other sea turtles nest along the beach; Chirripo National Park, with the highest peak of the country; and Corcovado National Park, an incredibly beautiful green tropical jungle, considered one of the most biologically intense places on Earth and one of the most important natural reserves in America.

Costa Rica Explorer Guide invites you to celebrate this day and also visit the national parks that generate economic and environmental benefits to their surrounding communities and the rest of the country.
