It is located in the northwest coast of Costa Rica, in the far south of the Peninsula de Nicoya (Nicoya Peninsula), east side from Punta Cabo Blanco (Cabo Blanco Peak), 119 kilometers from the capital San Jose.

This broad beach is covered with golden sand and is accompanied by a deep blue ocean with a soft swell. Playa Tambor is surrounded by rocky hills filled with a dense tropical dry forest.

There is an mangrove habitat in this place, located at the river mouth of the Río Pánica (Panica River). This is a very important ecosystem.

Tambor used to be a fishermen town that has experienced an increasing touristical development. This place was used as the setting of the American television show “Temptation Island 2” in the year 2001.

It is accessible all year round with a double traction vehicle.
There is a landing strip in Playa Tambor.

Hola. Antes que nada quisiera agradecer el hecho de que brinden información a todos los que tenemos interés en visitar y disfrutar de sus paradisíacos destinos y de su rica cultura. Mi inquietud es la siguiente. acabo de reservar en el hotel Barcelo Tambor Beach y sinceramente estoy algo angustiado ya que al navegar en foros me encontré con opiniones no muy favorables sobre dicho hotel, actividades y playas cercanas. Por el contrario, solo he leído maravillas acerca del Parque Nacional Manuel Antonio, sin embargo, en google maps me aparece que son más de cuatro horas de camino de un lugar a otro, es cierto?? de ser así, cómo debo hacer para no perderme ése tan maravilloso lugar del que todos hablan??? será viable el viajar de un lugar a otro??? sinceramente sólo voy seis días debido a que en mi trabajo no me autorizan mas y no quiero dejar de disfrutar ni un minuto. Me gustaría que me ayudaran a saber qué otras actividades están cerca de mi hotel y si valdrá la pena mejor cancelar la preservación y buscar uno cerca de Manuel Antonio. La verdad lo que me atrajo fue el TODO INCLUIDO y no he visto otro cerca del Parque Nac. Manuel Antonio que se maneje de esa forma... Agradecería mucho sus comentarios y asesoría. Serán determinantes para las decisiones que tome respecto a mis vacaciones.
