Playa Balsitas is located in the pacific coast of Costa Rica, at the south end of the Península de Nicoya (Nicoya Peninsula), Puntarenas.

Balsitas Beach is located on the western side of the Reserva Absoluta Cabo Blanco (Cabo Blanco Absolute Reserve), a shelter for primary forest in the region as well as an important amount of different marine birds.

In order to reach this beautiful and tranquil beach it is necessary to walk a trail. Along with the enchanting dry forest you can observe a deep blue ocean, two panoramic views that are unforgettable.  

The Río Balsitas (Balsitas River) runs into this beach in the shape of a beautiful waterfall which also creates a pond at the bottom.

Facilities
There is a lodge for scientists that offers meals, within the Estación Biológica San Miguel (San Miguel Biological Station).


Access
Accessible with a double traction vehicle (up to the main Entrance of the Absolute Reserve). 
There is a landing strip in the nearby Playa Tambor.
